Steps to Backup Whatsapp Messages& Media Files on Google Drive:
Before stepping into the real process we recommend you to have a “Wi-Fi” network. Because Whatsapp personally recommended to connect the android phone to Wi-Fi prior on backing up the Chats/Messages on Google Drive, as your backup files may vary in size. If you are not doing that it may consume more mobile data, which will cause unnecessary additional charges for you. So it is highly recommend to use “Wi-Fi” connection for WhatsApp to minimize the Internet cost.
In order to use Google drive Whatsapp backup, you must have the below things in place on the android mobile Phone
- Activated Google account on the Android Phone
- Google Play Services should be installed from Google Play on the android mobile.
- Free Disk space on the Google Drive for Whatsapp Chats & Media which also includes images, videos, Voice Messages & audio files
- The final one & important one to have free space on the android to create the backup
How to Create Google Drive whatsapp Backup:
Step #1: Open Whatsapp on android.
Step #2: Navigate to Menu button > Settings > Chats & Calls > Chat backup
Step #3: Tap on the “back up to Google Drive” Option. Now setup the frequency by selecting the appropriate options
Step #4: Now you will be prompted to select the Google account for backing up whatsapp on Google account. If you could not find any Google account then tap Add account. Make sure you are remembering that Google account is used for Whatsapp backup
Step #5: Now tap on the “Backup Over” option to choose the network that used for backup. As discussed earlier please make sure you are using the Wi-Fi network because backing up whatsapp files over mobile data will have additional data charges.
Whenever you receive an impotent whatsapp messages, If you want to really force the whatsapp to take backup immediately then follow the steps given below
Step #1: Open Whatsapp. Go to Menu > settings > chats > Chats & Calls > Chat Backup
Step #2: Tap on the “Backup to Google Drive” options & select the backup frequency other than never option
Step #3: Tap on “Back up” to start for Google Drive backup. This process will be finished in few minutes.
